Thomas Cook announces new routes to Egypt and Greece from Newcastle

Holidaymakers will be able to jet off to Egypt’s Red Sea coast and the Greek island of Santorini after Thomas Cook welcomed two new aircraft to Newcastle.

As the new Airbus A321’s touched down – ready for new summer flights to Dalaman – the airline announced new routes to the land of the Pharaoh’s third city Hurghada and the Aegean from 2015.
“It was a great day for holidaymakers in the North East, as we celebrated the arrival of two brand new aircraft and the start of our new flying programme for the summer – with even more new destinations announced for next summer too,” Thomas Cook Airlines chief executive Christoph Debus said.
“Our customers will experience a new level of comfort and reliability on our new aircraft and we’re extremely pleased that we’re able to offer an increased schedule for both our flight-only and holiday customers.
“We’ve worked with Newcastle International Airport for many successful years and we’re very excited about developing our partnership even further.”
Thomas Cook Airlines will introduce a total of six new A321 aircraft across its UK fleet this summer, withe the two brand new Airbus A321 aircraft, painted in the new Thomas Cook “Sunny Heart” livery, stopping off in Newcastle to take holidaymakers to Zante and Dalaman.
Last year, the firm announced it was adding extra seats from Newcastle, with the addition of an extra service to Dalaman in Turkey, and a new route to the Greek Island of Kos.
But from summer 2015, Thomas Cook will fly to Santorini and Hurghada – and offer an additional flight to Enfidha in Tunisia.
“These new aircraft are a welcome addition to the Thomas Cook fleet based at Newcastle Airport, and it’s great to see the airline showing its dedication to the region in this way,” said Dave Laws, the chief executive of Newcastle International Airport.
“With the announcement of new flights for this year and for 2015, North East travellers have an even wider range of destinations to choose from at their local airport.
“Newcastle Airport was named best large airport in the UK by readers of Which? Magazine in 2013, and new services like this will help us to continue providing a great experience to our customers.”
Thomas Cook Airlines currently serves 24 destinations from Newcastle International Airport, with more than 200,000 passengers each year flying with the airline.
