Incident: Webjet B733 at Iguassu Falls on Apr 15th 2012, bird strike

A Webjet Boeing 737-300, registration PR-WJJ performing flight WH-6703 from Iguassu Falls,PR to Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil), was in the initial climb out of Iguassu Falls when one of the engines (CFM56) ingested a bird. The crew stopped the climb and entered a holding to burn off fuel before returning to Iguassu Falls for a safe landing about an hour after departure.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.

Passengers reported there was quite some noise followed by a strange smell developing in the cabin. The crew subsequently announced they were going to return to Iguassu Falls.
