A Webjet Boeing 737-300, registration PR-WJC performing flight WH-5843 from Uberlandia,MG to Rio de Janeiro Galeao,RJ (Brazil), was enroute about 40 minutes into the flight when the crew initiated an emergency descent and the passenger oxygen masks deployed due to the rapid loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft continued to Rio de Janeiro's Galeao Antonio Carlos Jobim Airport at low altitude for a safe landing about 60 minutes later with a total delay of 100 minutes.
Passenger Davisson Dutra reported, that the aircraft had been delayed before takeoff from Uberlandia, the captain explained they were having problems with the anti-ice systems. The aircraft departed with a delay of 45 minutes and was about 40 minutes into the flight when the crew initiated a steep descent and the passenger oxygen masks came down. The aircraft continued to Rio de Janeiro at low altitude for a smooth landing.
