Bomb scare on JetBlue flight over camping stove

A man trying to carry a camping stove and leaking propane canister onto a JetBlue flight caused a bomb scare at Logan International Airport yesterday, state police said.
The man, identified only as a 19-year-old student from the United Arab Emirates, was investigated, cleared of wrongdoing and booked on a later flight to Orlando, state police spokesman David Procopio said.

"He was cooperative, and I am not aware of any huge disturbance, but I’m sure other travelers noticed the response,” Procopio said. Procopio said the Transportation Security Administration reported the man to state police about 4:30 p.m. and said he tried to carry a single-burner propane camping stove with a leaking canister through a security checkpoint.
The state police Explosives Ordnance Disposal unit and Massport fire responded, with firefighters seizing the stove and canister and rendering them safe, Procopio said. Investigators removed his luggage from the flight, examined it and found nothing hazardous, he said.
The man is a New England School of English student who lives in Cambridge and is transferring to another school in Florida, Procopio said. The man is in the country legally and is not included on any watch lists, Procopio said.
