O avião pousou 13 minutos antes do agendado.

United Airlines B752 at Los Angeles on May 31st 2011, nose wheel ran over foot of ground worker

A United Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N526UA performing flight UA-840 from Los Angeles,CA to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 182 passengers and 8 crew, was being pushed back and turned to a nose out position in the alley next to gate 70A, when the tow bar's shear pins fractured in the turn. Maintenance personnel arrived to assist in removing the stuck tow bar, when the airplane unexpectedly moved forward and overran the tow bar with a nose wheel rolling over a worker's foot.

The NTSB rated the occurrence an accident reporting that the worker received a fractured heel bone (calcaneal fracture). An investigation is underway.

The aircraft reached Chicago with a delay of 3:25 hours as a result of the accident.

On Sep 13th 2012 the NTSB released their brief factual report stating that the nose gear had been turned to 80 degrees but not past the limit when the shear pins fractured. The crew was requested to set the park brake while workers arrived to assist removing the tow bar. Initial attempts to release the tow bar were unsuccessful. The ground staff, with the intention of releases tension from the tow bar, therefore requested the flight crew to release the park brake, the flight crew, unaware of the problems with the tow bar, however believed the push back would continue and therefore released the park brakes although company procedures required park brakes to be and remain set during removal of the tow bar. After the brakes were released attempts to open the locking handle were successful and the tow bar was removed, the aircraft however made an unexpected movement forward, ran over the tow bar and made contact and trapped a worker's foot before the aircraft came to a stop. Post accident investigation revealed no anomaly with the aircraft braking system.

On Nov 8th 2012 the NTSB released their final report concluding the probable cause was:
The ground crewmembers’ failure to follow proper procedures for removing a stuck or jammed tow bar, which resulted in a ground crew injury.
